All The Doo Dah Day offers tailored music and movement programs for the elderly. We specialise in music therapy programs for people living with dementia and acquired brain injuries. We have witnessed the non-verbal become conversationalists, the catatonic become lucid, the friend who had been confined to a wheelchair since a fall from a cliff in 1979 miraculously get up on his feet to dance with Lynda one Christmas!

Our programs aim to bring back memories of days gone by, while at the same time promoting healthy brain architecture, physical, cognitive, social and emotional wellbeing. Our programs and the interpretation of the songs used therein, purposefully seek to promote verbal expression, listening skills, voice projection and vocal health, confidence, muscle strength, coordination, cultural awareness, appreciation of different genres of music, together with a strong sense of belonging and community. Our overacrching aim is to spread happiness to all who come in contact with our programs.

We are also able to arrange intergenerational sessions with pre-schoolers to bring some extra sparkle to our elderly friends' lives. Both the very young and the little bit older have a lot of learning to share. Lynda's son Elijah (pictured), who is a professional musical theatre performer, has also joined many a session and entertained the clients to great applause and many tears of joy. Read more about one of those sessions here.

Service providers to elderly clients, in particular those living with dementia are invited to contact us for more information about our monthly, fortnightly or weekly sessions. We have been delivering Zoom sessions for our Social Support groups during the Covid-19 lockdown to great delight and feedback. The gratitude from clients during this challenging time has been humbling. Grounded in the most recent neuroscientific research in relation to music therapy, our programs bring the same joy and education to your clients as they do to our youngest participants.

Here's what Social Support Coordinators and clients have to say about our programs

"Special and Memorable"

I want to thank you for the session on Monday, it was wonderful, your adorable son made that session special and memorable for many. Thank you to the little hero for his cordiality and immediacy and especially the wonderful performance

God his voice is a gift from heaven

"Valuable"

Gosh you never cease to amaze me.

The song guide book is excellent and I feel that carers and some clients will be understanding why we support you to continue these valuable sessions

Audrey Bermingham , Co-ordinator Social Support, City of Glen Eira

"Touched"

Just a short note to let you know both M and I enjoy the music therapy class you provide every second Monday. We were both very touched that you and the group sang and wished M a happy birthday. Looking forward to your next class
