Professional Learning

Lynda has taught thousands of children of different ages, backgrounds and abilities - she knows what works! She believes without joy there cannot be learning and “no significant learning occurs without a significant relationship” (James Comer). She proposes Connection over Perfection in teaching and learning.

Her unique teaching philosophy and pedagogy“Sparkology” is informed by:

  • Cutting edge neuroscientific research and progressive early childhood theory and pedagogy especially the Reggio Emilia Approach;

  • Lynda’s Masters’ research on dance as a learning tool in early childhood which returned powerful findings on the impact of collaboration with children;

  • Lynda’s personal journey of overcoming trauma including socio-economic disadvantage, bullying, chronic illness and her career transition from successful lawyer to the “Tay Tay of Preschoolers”.

Lynda developed her Professional Learning Program “The Doo Dah Way” in response to many educators asking for guidance on “how she does it”, not just in relation to the way she captures children's imaginations from the moment she enters a room, but the significant outcomes and inclusion achieved for children with additional needs, the family engagement and her leadership ability.

In a sector beset by challenges, Lynda's Professional Learning Program raises spirits, inspires creativity, curiosity and critical reflection, and shows educators that they can be joyful in their teaching. Using music and movement as a tool for learning and following the children not plans can achieve amazing learning outcomes. Lynda is a passionate socio-constructivist and  has long been an advocate for children's rights.  She loves sharing knowledge with and mentoring others. Her unique ability to make high level theory accessible to all using her trademark humour, audience interaction and sparklifying group songs and dances set our professional learning apart from the rest.

Participants are consistently saying that they wished our two hour workshops went for longer, that's how good they are!  Lynda has presented PD workshops and Keynotes for City of Kingston Grow Together Conference, YMCA Victoria Conference, City of Stonnington, City of Glen Eira, City of Wyndham, Geelong Early Years Conference, Bestchance, St Kevins ELC, Robert Cochrane Memorial Kindergarten,  and various other kindergartens/early learning centres, firmly cementing herself as a respected presenter of choice in not just music education but early childhood education best practice in general.
